Kaldi Privacy
Last updated 31 October 2026
Kaldi is a coffee cellar and espresso dial-in app made by Calin Capitanu. This page explains what it stores, who processes it, and how to delete it. There are no ads, no tracking and no selling of data.
What Kaldi stores
- Your account: your email address, and your name if Apple or Google shares it when you sign in.
- Your coffees: coffees, bags, photos of bags, reviews, flavour notes, gear and brews you log.
- AI requests: a record of each label read or coach suggestion (what it was about, the answer, and token counts) so the daily limit and costs can be tracked.
Only you can see your coffees, photos and brews.
The shared coffee library
When you scan a bag, the coffee's public details (name, roaster, origin, process, roaster's tasting notes) are added to Kaldi's shared library so others can find it. This contains nothing about you, and it stays when you delete your account.
Who processes it
- Supabase hosts the database, photos and sign-in, in the EU (Frankfurt).
- Anthropic (Claude) reads the bag photos you scan to fill in the label, and gets your recent brews for a bag when you ask the coach. Anthropic doesn't use this to train its models.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in if you choose them.
- Expo delivers app updates and hosts this website.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Palette → Settings → Delete account. That immediately and permanently deletes your account, coffees, photos, reviews and brews. You can also email the address below and I'll delete it for you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used. Email me and I'll answer within 30 days.
